Some Misconceptions About Doggy Daycare

Blog

Doggy daycare is a great place for your dog to go when you aren't going to be home with them. There are doggy daycares that offer regular daycare services for dogs that get picked up by the end of the day and there are also daycares that also offer overnight boarding. This article will introduce you to some of the common misconceptions that some people believe about doggy daycare facilities and the truth, so you can decide if daycare is right for your dog using the right information.

Doggy daycare can give your puppy separation anxiety

A common misconception is that taking your puppy to doggy daycare can cause it to develop separation anxiety because it will repeatedly feel abandoned. However, doggy daycare can actually help puppies not develop separation anxiety because they will get used to coming and going and they will be kept busy and enjoy the experience. Doggy daycare can even help adult dogs to get over some of their separation anxiety.

Dogs get exposed to many illnesses at daycare

Some people think that since a lot of dogs come in and out of the doggy daycare, it stands to reason that there are also a lot of illnesses coming and going. However, all dogs are given complete evaluations to make sure they are healthy, and all dogs have to be completely vaccinated in order to be allowed in the daycare. This significantly decreases the chances of illnesses in the facility. Plus, the facility will be completely cleaned and disinfected regularly.

There are a lot of dog fights at doggy daycares

Another thing some inexperienced people think about doggy daycare is that the dogs get in a lot of fights. When the dogs are evaluated, they are also evaluated to make sure they don't show any signs of aggression. They are even checked for food aggression to make sure there won't be any incidents. While there is always the chance a fight could happen, there is staff all around who will immediately spot the problem right away and intervene immediately. There are also systems in place to make sure there aren't too many dogs loose at a time.

The dogs spend most of their time in a cage

Dog daycares usually have large pens where each dog will spend some time. These pens have things like water and food bowls, toys, and a comfortable bed. However, the dogs only spend part of their time in the large pens and they spend part of the time running around, playing, and getting exercise.

choosing a pet day care for your beloved dog

Our pets are like our children — they need to be cared for when we are away. After being a stay at home mom for many years, I had to make some serious adjustments when I reentered the workforce. My children are all grown, but my dog just can't be home by himself. I had to find a day care for him to go to when I went to work. I was conflicted — how do I choose the day care that will provide him with the love, care and attention that he is used to? This blog will provide you with the same tips that I was given that helped me choose.
